GOATS!!!! Pictures and Video

Here are the girls! I’m taking suggestions for names! Leave a comment if you have any ideas. We were thinking something patriotic considering they were born on Independence Day.

Here is a video of the goats about an hour after they were born. I love their wagging tails!

Born On The 4th of July!!!

BREAKING NEWS!!: Alice welcomed two little babies into the world a couple hours ago. They are adorable, of course. I will be putting up pictures as soon as I have the chance!

In other not-so-new news: This weekend was full of firsts. While shopping for our camping trip, Daniel got his first ride in a shopping cart without a car seat. What a big boy! I was so excited for this moment until I realized I lost the designated spot for my purse.

We spent this weekend camping with some family. My dad always puts such effort into arranging things for our camping trip. This year he had the genius idea of having “air mattresses”. Unfortunately, his idea of an air mattress is a $2.99 water raft from Alco. He was very proud of his ingenuity. You go, Dad!

Needless to say, this was Daniel’s very first time camping. It was mostly a good weekend. He had a blast, but didn’t do well with sleeping. He was over-tired by the time we got home last night. Three days of no naps and barely any sleep on a hard ground equals one crabby baby AND momma. Daniel always has a blast playing with his little cousins…no wonder he didn’t want to nap.

Daniel was loving all the blow up water toys this weekend…regardless of the fact they weren’t in the water. He especially loved a blow up dolphin that our cousins brought. He would hold on to the flipper while chewing on the tip of it.

Daniel also got his very first “sit” in a park swing. I can’t say he actually swung because he would have flopped all over. He was still too small to fill the darn thing out.

Overall, I would say Dan and my Dad had the best weekend. Life was good for these two BFFs.

And The Winner Is…..

Alice. With 44 percent of all the votes, Alice took the lead and will be the name of our new goat! If your vote didn’t win, who knows maybe we’ll have another poll for her babies that are on the way?!

In other farm news…it is definitely kitten season. It is so strange to see the chemistry that goes on between the cats and the cows. One of the cats actually had her kittens right where all of the cows eat. The cows occasionally stick their head through the pens to massage the cats by gnawing on their back. It is very strange.

Daniel seems to like the kittens too.

With this nice WARM (93 degree) weather we’ve been having it’s been nice getting out to relax a little on the farm and in the pool. Our friend Mackenzie was generous enough to let us crash her pool.

Name That Tune…I Mean Goat!

We have had such a busy few days! On Tuesday we celebrated my sister passing her test for her teaching license. It wasn’t much of a celebration being it was last minute. My dad and Caitlyn came over and we had a bit of champagne while we watched Dumb and Dumber.

The next day Caitlyn and I took Daniel to his first real doctor appointment in Watertown. He did great! Unfortunately the Dr. and I didn’t share the same views on certain things so I don’t think we will be going back to him. Fortunately we all had a fun time in Watertown. Between some photobooth fun and losing Dan’s bottle half way through the trip, it was a wild day!

Thursday was full of fixing up our new stroller, baking monster cookies, making salsa, making a trip to Runnings for things to make our goat fence and a ‘toy bucket’ for Daniel’s room… and trying to get caught up on the laundry–that still isn’t done yet.

Friday we went to pick up our new goats. It was no picnic in the pouring rain. We ended up getting one billy, who we named Billy, a little girl who we named Darla and a pregnant momma who we couldn’t decide on a name for. This is where you guys come in. We will name the goat whatever gets the most votes on the poll at the bottom of this post!

This morning Daniel and I went to water the chickens/ducks/turkeys and check on the goats and we were greeted by about six or seven HUGE gardener snakes by the barn door. We ended up waiting until Ryan got home so we could have him scare them away from the door.

Here are Billy (black and white) and Darla (brown and white). They are both a little skeptical of us still. I couldn’t even get close enough to take a decent picture!

And here is ?????. She is such a sweet mama. She is literally like a big dog. She followed us around the whole time. She even tried following us back up to the house.

—–> And yes. Those are snowmen on Dan’s PJs. We make use of all our hand-me-downs….even if they aren’t in season!

(Sorry the poll isn’t showing up automatically. You’ll have to go through the link below)   😦
